Sammy Mitchell is the first signing to the Jackie Boyz/Razor & Tie Music Publishing joint venture initiative.
Sammy’s musical influences growing up were a diverse mixture of Hip Hop, Punk Rock, Metal, Country, Pop… Some favorite artists include The Beatles, Rage Against The Machine, Sturgill Simpson, Say Anything, The Beastie Boys, Brand New, Eminem… Producers the likes of Matt Goldman, Rick Rubin, Aaron Sprinkle…
His earliest experiences right out of school touring with his band “The City Lives” lead to a record deal with All American Rejects’ label “Edmond Records”. Relocating to Nashville after the group disbanded lead Sammy to Belmont University’s Music Business course and the notion of possibly pursuing a more formal legal qualification at law school.
Sammy was drawn back to the studio environment, and since has been developing / writing with artists from his home project studio “Black Cat”. Credits include co-writer / producer on Luke Combs “One Number Away”, and producer on Faren Rachels “Free Drinks”. He aims to continue collaborating with artists and create timeless music everyone involved can be proud of.
