Producer, engineer, mixer, and writer Paul Moak resides in Music City, USA… otherwise known as Nashville, TN.
It is in this city that Paul has produced, engineered, performed, and written songs on numerous gold and platinum records, as well as had tracks featured on hit TV shows Grey’s Anatomy, One Tree Hill, Dawson’s Creek, and Friday Night Lights. Additionally, his works have appeared in several major motion pictures.
Among a very impressive roster of artists, Paul’s credits include Mat Kearney, Third Day, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Martha Wainwright, Monroe/Dabbs, Jennifer Knapp, Matthew Mayfield, Griffin House, Madi Diaz, Seabird, and many others.
He cut his chops on the road, spending years touring and recording in studios as an in-demand session player. Paul quickly evolved from the musician being recorded to the producer/engineer/mixer.
Moving to Nashville in 1998, Paul had his first private studio in town and has since moved to the former Platinum Labs (a 3,000 square foot facility), now called ‘The Smoakstack.’
The Smoakstack allows Paul to transition his love of old-school recordings, techniques, and vintage gear into the creation of new records. With an array of vintage instruments and recording equipment that includes over thirty guitars, century-old pianos and organs, tube microphones, and a 2″ tape machine (just to name a few pieces), his passion is to make a comfortable, creative environment where artists can relax and capture a vibe onto their albums.
